Jim Litchfield
Managing Director
Jim is the fifth generation James Litchfield to run Hazeldean P/L. After completing a Bachelor of Agriculture at Orange Agricultural College and jackarooing in Northern NSW Jim came home to take the reins from his father, James Litchfield Snr.
Jim has expanded the business to market bulls in QLD, NSW and SA, the inception of the Senegus program and the progression of the Merino stud.
Jim is married to Libby and they have three children, James, Bea and Iona.
Libby Litchfield
Libby organises our marketing and advertising along with helping out whenever she is needed; from lambmarking to loading guns for cattle AI - she’s a good all rounder!
Bea Litchfield
Bea returned home in 2015 to Hazeldean after 4 years studying B. Ag. Sci at UNE and Sydney University, and then worked for a corporate Agricultural company. She has spent time in Canada and worked on RA Brown Cattle Ranch in Texas. She has taken up the role of Stud Stock Manager.
Ed Bradley
Ed joined Hazeldean in early 2017. Ed spent a number of years working for Twynam at Jemalong Station in Forbes before completing a Diploma at Marcus Oldham and a Bachelor of Commerce. He has experience working in the Thoroughbred industry and the red meat industry as a trader. He has a passion for livestock and is a great member of the team.
Ed takes care of sales and client services - he also does many of the ram and bull deliveries in the Hazeldean truck.
Jennifer Watkins, Administration Manager
Jenni joined Hazeldean in January 2016 to take care of the administration side of the business. She studied accounting through Charles Sturt Uni and has worked for both government and private business whilst always maintaining her connection with the agriculture industry. Jennifer continues a long time association between Hazeldean and the Miners family, being one of the daughters of Les and Norma Miners and growing up at Eagle Vale, Hazeldean. She is as handy in the yards as she is in the office!
Nick Forbes, Myalla Station Manager
NIck joined the Hazeldean team in 2015 to take on the role of Manager at the Myalla property. Nick has vast experience and expertise with livestock and in particular with the angus stud industry. Nick, along with his wife Jacqui, children Sophie and Harry, have cemented their place in the rural community of the Monaro.
John Roche, Springdale Manager
John grew up in Adelong. After school John did a year jackarooing in Longreach with AACO, he then completed a Advanced Diploma of Farm Management at Orange through Sydney University. John then returned home to the family farm business which consisted of a commercial sheep, cattle and horticultural enterprise. After fourteen years the family completed their succession planning and John had the opportunity to run his own farm business and a successful contracting business. John is married to Sarah and has three children Polly, Sidney and Billy.
Jace Simmons, Cropping & Pastures Manager
Jace has a real passion for regenerative ag, pasture and stock and will help identify areas to keep us moving forward into the future.
Jace and his wife Belinda moved with their 5 children, Remy, Carter, Wyatt, Paisley and Emmett in July 2020 from Victoria where Jace was managing a 2000acre Angus X Wagyu breeding and fattening property with irrigation.
Jace’s work history includes working in Qld at Stanbroke in the Gulf of Carpentaria and for JL & MA Lord running high grade Brahman breed-stock and bulls near Mt Isa. He has also worked on the Barkley NT and VRD in positions such as Workshop Supervisor and Head Bore Mechanic. In the midst of all that he managed to complete a mature age Diesel Fitter Apprenticeship in Victoria.
Will Pendergast
Will started working at Hazeldean in 2018. Growing up on his parent’s merino stud right next door to Hazeldean, he came with a good understanding of stock work and day to day farming life. Will has a dependable can-do attitude and is always wearing a smile.
Hamish Hull
Myalla Overseer
Hamish commenced as the Overseer at Myalla in March 2020. He and his wife Chantal are living at Coroo, part of Myalla.. Before coming to Hazeldean, Hamish gained experience working for Jumbuck Pastoral in South Australia, first as a station hand at Mobella Station and later as an Overseer at Bullgunnia Station. In between those positions Hamish worked at Narrangullen Station outside Yass.
Derrick Dowell
Derrick grew up at Gundagai. He has worked in the meat processing industry including 7 years at Monbeef as the Head Stockman. Derrick now works at Myalla, living at Lincluden with his lovely family, wife Holly and daughters Skylar Rose, Mickeala Grace and Emelia.
Jeremy Bates
Jeremy started at Hazeldean in January 2021. He grew up in Brisbane and spent all his school holidays working out on his uncle’s Queensland cattle station. After finishing school he worked at Rocklands Station. Jeremy is preparing to study a Bachelor in Agribusiness in the near future.
Charlie Pendergast
Fresh out of school, Charlie started at Hazeldean in January 2021 to further his knowledge and experience of the Livestock industry.
Richard Cannon
Richard joined Hazeldean as Manager of Hazeldean Riverina at Rosevale Hay in early 2006. Richard has a Diploma in Agribusiness from Marcus Oldham College and is married to Sarah with four children. When the property was sold in 2015 Richard purchased some land with the sale complex and house and continues to be involved with Hazeldean.
Guy and Sarah Cunningham
Guy and Sarah run the Hazeldean Angus South Australian enterprise on their property, Gumbowie, at Willalooka in south east South Australia. Formerly both Hazeldean Merino and Angus clients, and in addition to their cropping and seed enterprise, they grow out the weaner bulls for the annual Hazeldean SA Bull Sale. and host it at Gumbowie in February each year.
